There's a little more cussing than I typically use so if you aren't comfortable with that sort of thing then don't read it. Also alcohol references but it isn't that bad since they're all above or at age 21
Enjoy ~

--------------------------------------------------------------
“Look smart ass I’m not here just to look pretty. Where’s the damn cash?”

You nearly choked your employer that night, your freshly manicured nails digging into the crisp white collar of his shirt. You worked at a high class casino in Vegas, the typical waitress serving drinks and food. Although, you also had a job you weren’t very proud of. You also looted customer’s money. Whenever they gambled, especially when they were downright wasted, you’d grab their attention and slip through their pockets or wallets without anyone noticing. The casino wasn’t high class for nothing after all. Getting the extra cash was easy, especially when the customers didn’t realize what was happening. This didn’t start happening until your employer, Niles, ran out of extra moolah. Greed overtook his system, and now he relies on his top waitresses to do the pit pocketing. If they get caught it’s on them, not him. You knew this yet you couldn’t afford to quit. You lived at the casino, and you only left for necessities.

“(F/n) darling I know you’re rather impatient,” Mr. Niles sighed, “But I promised you I’d hand it over later tonight. I have to tend to my customers.”

“You son of a-“

“(L/n) we need your assistance.”

You sighed angrily, pushing him down and stomping through the slot machines in your white platformers. You were a rather tall woman, but the uniform required these shoes along with that spunky black dress of yours. You were head waitress, and you ran the house whenever the boss wasn’t around. It was your job to keep everything in line. You didn’t mind, since you were a hard working woman, but it did add to the late night stress. You had night shift, and it was typically always packed in the late hours. Your hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail, your eyebrows on point and your stride confident. You held yourself strongly, your standards on life higher than most. You expected the best, in looks and morals. The only thing wrong was your pit pocketing but you didn’t get into trouble yet so it should be fine.

You met up with Jean, the bartender, and took a tray of cocktails and martinis over to the poker game right across from the bar. You handed each patron their drinks, gave them a sweet smile, and headed back to the copper haired boy. He was new, but he seemed to know the swing of things already. He was a fast learner.

“Jeanchurro,” you yelled above the blasting Lady Gaga music, “Any newbies in need of a nice drink?”

He shook his head, “Not really. I know there should be a few coming in soon. They go to the college I go to.”

You cackled and punched his shoulder, “I didn’t take you as a nerd. What major?”

He scowled, “Promise not to judge?”

You nodded.

“IST.”

You blinked, “Why would I judge you for that? That’s incredible!”

“It’s out of my league. I can barely keep up.”

“Isn’t that Arlert kid in there too?”

He smiled gently, “No he majors Marine Biology. IST is his minor.”

You nodded, a small smile gracing your glossy lips. Whenever Jean told you about this Armin child you instantly wanted to know more about him. Jean described him as a smart, clever, nerdy boy. He was rather small, but he had golden hair and beautiful blue eyes that made up for it. You were into the shorter guys anyways, and if it weren’t for your busy job you’d go with Jean to all the places he’d try to take you to. Jean was a great guy to hang out with, but in terms of relationships, he wasn’t exactly your type.

“I told Armin and Eren to meet us here after your shift,” he chuckled, seeing your star filled gaze, “So you’ll be able to meet ‘em. You cool with that girl?”

“Heck yeah Kirstein! Sounds great. Hey gimme one of those Blue Moon’s will ya?”

He sighed, “You shouldn’t be drinking on the job. Niles is right there.”

You reached out, “I don’t care about that dipshit just give me the drink.”

The drink was placed in your hand and you took a small swig. It smelled and tasted horrible, but you didn’t care at this point. At least it was better than it was when you had your first one. That was a bitch.

“Ah Horse Face!”

You turned to the loud brunette and quiet blonde. You smirked down at them, remembering how you were at their ages. They were all 21, and you were around 27. They all looked so young, especially the blonde. His hair was as golden as the golden sign out front, his eyes as crystal clear blue as the ocean. You leaned down and stared through his square rims, which were rather large for his face. A large blush spread across his cheeks, and that made you giggle. He was a cutie that was for sure.

“Jaeger what the hell!?” Jean yelled.

“Ah ah ah Jeanbo~” he purred, “You took that bet and lost. No complaints.”

“Woah Jean lost a bet? I thought I taught you better boy,” you laughed, punching his shoulder again.

“Not you too (F/n).”

You wiggled your eyebrows and scanned Eren. His hair was rather messy, much to your displeasure, and his clothes were a bit too casual for the business. He seemed very laid back, and the beany on his head didn’t match his jacket. His personality seemed to be rather outgoing and headstrong though, just like Jean, so you all in all didn’t mind him. Jean told you stories about him too, always picking fights and getting into trouble.

“So, how may we assist you boys?” you asked, your arms spread across the bar, “I can help you with the alcohol, food, games….whatever you need I’ll do my best to give.”

The brunette laughed and slammed his hand on Armin’s shoulder, “My buddy here just turned 21. I want to be the one to buy his first drink. Any recommendations?”

You stared into Armin’s eyes, making him blush even more and stare at his shoes. You chuckled softly and looked back at Jean. “Well, I highly advise something sweet, like red wine to start off.  Don’t get him anything too heavy if he can’t stand his liquor yet. Most of our drinks contain vodka, so stay away from those.”

Armin nodded and smiled, giving you a small thank you.

Jaeger nodded and outstretched his hand, “I’m Eren by the way. Jean told me a lot about you.”

You grabbed his surprisingly firm hand, “I’m (F/n), and Jeanchurro here has told me lots about both of you.”

Armin’s eyes widened and he looked at Jean, “Y-You told her about u-us?”

Wow, his voice WAS very angelic. Your cheeks flushed pink slightly just from hearing his voice. Even his cute little stutter was too much for your heart to handle. As a grown, independent woman this made you confused. These weren’t feelings of attraction were they? Jean spoke to Armin, and that left you and Eren to start up a conversation. You spoke about your job, and how great some of the games are. Eren wasn’t there to gamble, and neither was Armin, even though he was apparently badass at poker. They were there to torment Jean and get Armin’s first drink. You found it sweet that they’d go here just to see Jean. You wished you had friends like that.

“(F/n) a customer.”

You jumped in surprise and nodded to Jean, taking a tray and meeting with some men at the Black Jack table. Two martinis and the rest were beers. You took the one dollar bill from the one man’s back pocket and returned to Jean to tell him the order. You smiled at Armin, who was staring at you in awe. You smirked and left to give out the alcohol. “Thank you for your purchase~!” you said with a smile, leaving as soon as you could. Dealing with gambling drunks is usually a nightmare, but for some reason tonight wasn’t as bad. Maybe it was because you had people to talk to. Your eyes stared up at the ceiling, wondering how a woman like yourself started talking to young men who stirred your heart into twisted fires. How could a mere blonde make you burst in embarrassment? You’ve dated men before but none of them made you feel this way. They were typically very controlling and needy as well, which was a huge turn off. You honestly could care less about dating anymore, but Armin made you see the world differently. It wasn’t as cruel and unforgiving as you thought it would be. Not right now anyways.

You returned to Jean and his gang, your heart beating a mile a minute. The copper haired rooky gave you a sly smile, which made you glare slightly at him. He knew of your little crush. He could read you like an open book. You’ve known each other ever since he first came in here, which was about two months ago. Jean was basically the only friend you had, considering you hated your boss and your other coworkers feared you. You used to have another friend, Sasha Braus, but she quit so she could work for Gorden Ramsey. She was a killer chef so it worked out well for her.

“(F/n)!”

You jumped and faced Jean.

“You spacin out or something? Your cheeks are scarlet.”

You pushed your cheeks with your open palms, the warmth making you even more embarrassed. You sighed and stared at the floor.

Jean shook his head and turned to Eren, “Hey dickwad, (F/n) and I are going to the storeroom real quick. Don’t mess anything up you hear?”

Eren shrugged and continued his conversation with Armin. Your eyes lingered on the boy for a second before Jean started dragging you to the empty storeroom at the end of the hall. There was already so much space for everything they needed.

“(F/n) why don’t you ask the damn guy out already?” he whispered, “You’ve been staring at him the majority he was here.”

You sighed, “I know but he’s young, and I’ve never done this sort of thing before.”

“There is no way Armin is ever getting a girlfriend at our college so if that’s what you’re worried about-“

“No Jean you don’t get it. It’s too soon. I just met him and he knows nothing about me besides what you’ve told him.”

“Well he’s had his eye on you ever since he walked in so it’s pretty obvious he likes you. I swear you two are too shy for your own good.”

You growled, “I-I’m not shy you bastard!”

Suddenly his hands flew up in the air, “Then what’s this? What are you doing right now? If you’re so bold and brave then why the hell didn’t you even start up a conversation huh?”

“Look Jean, unlike you I have a job that requires moving around everywhere. Unless you want to take over my position and ruin my reputation I suggest you keep your mouth shut.”

“You are so stubborn I swear to God.”

You laughed, “I wouldn’t be working where I am if I wasn’t now would I? Thanks for the pep talk by the way. I needed it.”

He patted your back, “Hey what are friends for?”

You smiled and opened the door, allowing him to go out first. Eren and Armin turned their attention to the both of you when you arrived. “That was fast,” Eren chuckled.

“Yeah well, she’s not one for conversation,” Jean sighed, “I tried but she’s a tough cookie. My feelings just weren’t enough.”

“What did you say?” You growled, your fist clenching, “What kind of bullshit statement is that Kirstein?”

Jean yelped and grabbed for Eren’s wrist, “I need you for something, (F/n) you hold down the fort okay?”

“You son of a-“

“Take good care of Armin!” Eren yelled.

“E-Eren!” Armin squeaked.

And they were off doing who knows what. You sighed and leaned against the bar, staring at the red liquid in Armin’s glass. It looked like he barely touched it. “Do you not like it?” you asked.

“I-I do it’s just…I-I don’t want to drink it down too fast you know?” Armin mumbled.

You smiled, “I was the same way with my first drink. At least it shows you won’t be an alcoholic in the future.”

“Yeah.”

You stared down at the bar, scratching the back of your head. That last statement was really weird and you regret saying it. Now he’ll think you’re obsessed with alcohol. That’s all you’ve spoken to him about.

“So,” you sighed, “a little birdy told me you were interested in Marine Biology.”

Armin blushed and nodded, staring into his wine glass. You couldn’t hold back the small giggle that escaped your lips, “I think that’s cool.”

He stared up at you, “You think so?”

You smiled and nodded, “I think it’s great that you’re studying something you love and you’re pursuing it. It takes a lot of courage to do that.”

A small, bashful smile crept up on his face. He scratched he back of his head, and you couldn’t help but notice how nervous he was. “Are you okay Armin?” you asked.

“N-No I’m okay i-it’s just…w-well…” he glanced up at you, “I-I’ve never seen such a p-pretty girl before…a-and I never thought you’d e-ever talk to me like this…”

You smiled and blushed slightly, “Well you’re quite the looker yourself. For a young man like yourself you are highly attractive, and I think smart nerdy guys are adorable. Every time Jean spoke about you I was even more fascinated by your personality.”

His face was on fire and you hoped he was really okay. You never saw a blush that beet red before. You hadn’t said anything lewd either, which made you wonder how he would act if you did….maybe later.

“Armin are you seriously okay?” you asked, feeling his forehead, “Your face feels like it’s on fire!”

“I-I-I uh…I-I’m o-okay…”

He hid his face behind his hands and made small whimpering noises. If you knew him better you would have hugged him right there and then, but you didn’t want him to feel uncomfortable. That would probably make this situation much worse.

“(F/n) what did you do!?”

Jean and Eren ran back from wherever they were. Eren placed his hands on Armin’s shoulders, and Jean stared at you with a shocked expression. You sighed and placed your hands on your hips, “His face kept getting red and I wasn’t sure what was wrong. Is he sick or something? I know he isn’t drunk since he only had a few sips of wine so far. He barely drank anything.”

Jean sighed, “Armin gets really nervous around girls. Didn’t I tell you that already?”

You blinked, “Yeah but I never expected his face to get so red.”

He shook his head, “You’re hopeless.”

“N-No…it’s okay…”

You looked back at Armin, his eyes glittering and his cheecks calming down, “I’m okay. I-I just really like you…”

You smiled, “I like you too Armin. Say, how about after my shift we head out somewhere nice. I got a friend who works at a fancy place right across the street. My treat.”

Jean whined, “But my shift ends after yourrrs.”

You laughed, “Well too bad for you Jeanchurro. You should take your future girl there some time then.”

Eren laughed, “I guess I’ll head back to the dorms then. Mind if I request you drive him back to me then?”

“Of course Eren.”

Armin blushed brightly, “Th-Thank you (F/n)…f-for everything.”

You smiled gently, “No Armin, I should be the one thanking you.”

You gave your blonde little angel a quick kiss on the cheek before turning to leave.

“(F/n) your skirt’s up.”

You glared back at Jean and fixed your outfit. You couldn’t help but also giggle at Armin’s wide eyes and red face. Even his ears were scarlet.

And thus ending your single, independent nature. Now you were a protector for your nerdy angel in Hell.
OOH this was influenced by Lady Gaga's song Alejandro! I woke up at 3 in the morning and this idea popped up in my head. Hope you enjoy it :D
