You opened your eyes to lush green and the peaceful sounds of nature. ‘So this is the world of the living?’ you think, ‘It’s pretty impressive. Who could have thought humans were so talented!’

“The shop shouldn’t be too far away,” Renji said, smiling at your fascination.

You shrugged and smiled back at him, “I don’t mind! I enjoy walking. Besides, there are probably a lot of things to look at here, so if you want to take your time we can do that.”

“Didn’t you promise Ukitake you would get this done quickly?” Ichigo asked.

You frowned, remembering your words to him. ‘That’s right. I did make a promise to Jushiro. I didn’t come here to tour the living world; I came here to get powerful for my Captain!’

“That’s right! I have to keep my promise,” you say, smiling and running a bit ahead.

“Hey wait up!” Ichigo called, but you were long gone.

‘I have to meet Urahara and Yourichi quickly, and get started right away. If I can’t get my Zampakuto soon, then I know for sure my Captain will be in grave danger.’

You stopped in front of a small, almost run down shop. Two kids were sweeping out front, and were now staring at you. One was a boy with red hair and blue jeans, and the other was a girl with black hair in pigtails with a pink skirt that flows down to her calves. “I-Is this Urahara’s shop?” you ask.

“The boss isn’t up yet, so just wait out here,” the red haired boy said.

You smile down at them and nod. Not too long afterwards, Ichigo and Renji appeared beside you. “(y/n), you shouldn’t run ahead like that,” Renji lectured, “You don’t know where you’re going.”

Ichigo smirked, “She found the right place though, so why should you say anything?”

Renji snarled, and you giggled, “Guys stop it! This is ridiculous.”

“Yes ma’am.”

You walk up to the red headed kid, and said sternly, “We came here on orders from Jus- I mean Captain Ukitake. It’s very urgent.”

The kid sighed, opened the door to the shop, and yelled, “Boss! The moocher and carrot top are here with a new customer!”

“Ok Jinta, I’ll be out in a minute. Ururu let them in.”

“Yes sir,” the girl mumbled. She looked up at you, and asked softly, “Why are you guys here?”

“They’re not gonna tell you!” Jinta yelled, pulling Ururu’s hair, “You’re so nosey Ururu!”

“Ow! Jinta stop it! Ow! You’re hurting me! Jinta!”

“We’re here so I can train to get a Zampakuto,” you said.

Jinta stopped harassing Ururu and stared at you, “You don’t have a Zampakuto? Then how are you a Soul Reaper?”

“She got out of the Academy early and didn’t get her sword,” Ichigo said, “We were wondering if mister hat and clogs would help her out with it.”

Ururu and Jinta nodded, and opened the door for the three of you to go through. A man with a much built body and glasses met you inside the shop. It seemed like he was analyzing you. You stared back at him, not intimidated at all. “Ah, so you’re the new Lieutenant,” the man said, “Urahara mentioned you would be here today.”

“Wait,” Jinta gasped, “Tessai, she’s a Lieutenant!? She doesn’t even have a Zampakuto! How could she be a Lieutenant?!”

“Ukitake had faith in her,” a voice behind the man said. Tessai moved, revealing another with blonde hair, a green hat and cloak, and sandals. ‘This must be Urahara.’

“You’re captain seems like he’s very fond of you,” Urahara said, “He kept rambling on about how great you were. According to him, you should get your Zampakuto AND reach Bankai within a couple weeks.”

You nodded, saying “I’ve read a lot on what to expect, but now I’ll be able to use my skills and knowledge as best as I can.”

Urahara smiled, and then turned to Ichigo, “I want you and Renji to only help her if she needs it.  No butting in no matter what. Understand?”

Ichigo and Renji nodded. “Tessai, Ururu, Jinta, I need you three to be the medical staff.”

“Yes sir,” the trio said in unison.

Urahara lead you, Ichigo, and Renji down to the basement, where there was the dirt ground and blinding bright blue walls. ‘Don’t worry Captain; I’ll finish this in no time! I promise.’

When you reached the bottom, you had no idea what to do. “Usually,” Urahara started, “you will first meet your Zampakuto if you are in a deathly situation. So in order to do that, you must fight me!”

“Isn’t that a little too harsh?” Renji yelled, “She doesn’t have a sword!”

Tessai threw you a wooden sword. You smirked, already liking where this was going. “She won’t be able to do it!” Ichigo protested, “The sword will break!”

“Ichigo!” you yelled, facing him with a serious face, “If you can’t take any challenge, then you shouldn’t even be a Soul Reaper! You of all people should know that.”

You face Urahara again, smirked, and asked, “Well what are you waiting for? Get out your Zampakuto and let’s fight!”

“I’m glad you have a strong spirit,” he said, removing the handle from his cane revealing his Zampakuto, “Now let’s see if you have a strong body as well!”

He lunged at you with his Zampakuto with lots of force. You blocked with your wooden sword, smirking. “I’m glad you’re not going easy on me,” you say.

“How would you learn anything if I didn’t?”

He kept swinging his sword at you, and you didn’t waver at blocking all of his attacks. When you were about to attack, thinking you found an opening, Urahara quickly slashed his sword into your side, creating a huge wound in your waist. You cringed slightly, but tried slashing at Urahara again. You managed to make a light scratch on his cheek, which didn’t seem to affect him at all. ‘Maybe if I put enough spiritual pressure through here, maybe this sword would withstand more powerful attacks.’

Your spiritual pressure surrounded you, the bright blue aura enveloping you. You stare at Urahara intently, ready to attack. “I will DEFEAT YOU!” you scream, slamming your sword into his shoulder. His hat flew back, landing behind him. His eyes widened as blood splattered from his shoulder. Your surprise was shown on your face as you stare at the orange hilted sword in your hands. “Kurai Tenshi!” you called, hearing the name faintly whispered in your ear. You were suddenly knocked out.

You slowly got up, finding yourself in a dark cave. Your shadow had wings, but you checked to see you didn’t have any. “You must be Kurai Tenshi,” you whispered to the shadow girl.

The shadow came up to take a human looking form, a dark dress flowing gracefully over her feet. Her wings were huge, taking up almost all of the space. “Ah, so you are the soul reaper who kept me within you,” she growled, “You could have found the will in you to wield me much sooner!”

“What do you mean by the will?”

She sighed in frustration, “If you had actually worked hard to reaching me, you would have gotten me sooner. But NO! You had to fall in love with that old man!”

You got up, and grabbed her neck, yelling, “Look, I don’t care if you’re my Zampakuto, you would NEVER insult my Captain like that! GOT IT!?”

She nodded, frightened of your intense glare. “So, can I just call you Tenshi for short?” you ask, not letting tension fall.

“Why not Kurai?”

She seemed sad, so you smiled and said, “It sounds prettier. Like you.”

For a second, she seemed shocked, but then she smirked, saying, “I sound pretty?”
“I meant look. You look pretty.”

She smiled, hugging you and saying, “Thank you.  I’m glad you’re my wielder.”

You smiled, embracing your Zampakuto. “Thank you for letting me call out to you.”

You found yourself back at Urahara’s basement. Ichigo and Renji were hovering over you, smiling. “Glad you finally woke up,” Renji said.

“I found my Zampakuto,” you mumble, smiling.

“Dark Angel huh?” Urahara said, wiping the dust off of his hat, “That Zampakuto is a dangerous one. Are you sure you can handle it?”

You smiled, “She seemed to be happy when I called her pretty. I think we’ll be great friends. So, now for Bankai!”

Urahara laughed, “Now hold your horses. Let’s do one little step at a time here. You just got your Zampakuto; don’t you want to relax a bit after that?”

You shook your head, “I can’t waste time! I have to go back to Jush… erm Captain Ukitake as fast as I can! I must be there for him.”

“If he’s given you weeks to train, I don’t think he’ll be in any real immediate danger.”

Urahara patted your head, and said gently, “Why don’t we give you some food, then you can stay here for the next few weeks. That sound good?”

You nodded, and climbed back upstairs where you smelled the delicious smells of food.

After your shower, you laid in bed with your kimono top, sleeping silently. You dreamt of your Captain, sitting on a balcony with you, talking casually under the moonlight. It was the sweetest dream you’ve had in a long time, but it was interrupted by a hand lightly touching your cheek. Your eyes slowly opened, to see a shadowed figure hovering over you. “Sh, It’s okay,” he whispered, “I am not your enemy.”

“Who are you?” you whispered, finding the voice strangely familiar. ‘Where have I heard that voice before?’

“You will see.”

The shadow kissed your forehead, and you realized right away who it was. “J-Jushiro?” you whispered, “is that you?”

Even though you couldn’t see it, you could tell he was smiling down at you. “I’m glad you hadn’t forgotten me yet.”

“Captain, it’s only been a few hours. How could I ever forget you?”

“Well I tend to worry over you. You know how I get.”

You smiled, “Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you worry.”

You sit up, kneeling in front of him. The moonlight shining through your room allowed you to see his face much more clearly. He had bags under his eyes, and he looked very tired. “You should go get some rest,” you whispered, “You look terrible.”

“But I wanted to see you. I had to make sure my Lieutenant was okay.”

“I’m fine Captain. You don’t have to worry about me.”

He frowned, and stared down at the floor as he mumbled, “But, I can’t help it. You know how much you mean to me.”

You raised your eyebrows. Usually, this situation would be the other way around where you would say you can’t live without him. “Jushiro, are you okay?” you ask, placing a hand on his forehead, “You’re saying things that don’t make sense.”

Jushiro frowned, looking very disappointed. “I’ve been trying to show you ever since we ran into each other in the Rukon District. Besides, our promise is proof for how much we love each other. Remember (y/n)?”

You hugged Jushiro, and whispered, “Yes Jushiro, I remember clearly. You just startled me is all. You can’t worry about me. You have to stay with the squad. Just stay strong until I return, ok?”

He nodded. You parted, and continued, “Oh and aren’t you doing something illegal here?”

Jushiro chuckled, “Lieutenant, I’ve done two illegal things. One, falling in love with one of my subordinates, and two, meeting her in the world of the living because I miss her without authorization. This just shows how I would do anything to be by your side.”

You blushed and smiled as you said, “Now I feel bad. I was so stupid, and I couldn’t see your affection towards me. I’m sorry Jushiro, I didn’t mean to-“

Before you finished, Ukitake had captured your lips, making the rest of your words turn into soft moans of happiness. His lips were chapped, but you still loved this kiss. You got brave and grazed your tongue against his teeth. You felt him smile as he opened his mouth more. You finally got to taste him. You pressed yourself closer to him, deepening the kiss. You’re tongue lightly passed his, which then moved with yours. ‘Who knew the Captain could be so daring?’ you thought.

When you parted, both of you were panting, but neither of you had enough. Ukitake laid you back on the bed, kneeling above you. You blush, thinking of what it looked like was going to happen. “I don’t want to risk doing that, don’t worry,” Ukitake whispered, chuckling at your expression. You smile, but deep down inside, you felt disappointed.
He took your lips again, this time resuming with dancing with your tongue. Your eyes closed as you moaned and wrapped your arms around his lower back. You rubbed your hands up and down his back. You were rewarded with a soft moan escaping your Captain’s mouth.  You were running out of air, but you didn’t want to let go of him. Not even for a second.

Sadly though, Ukitake had to let go, and he was about to have another coughing fit. ‘Oh no, he’ll wake everybody up!' you thought. You hugged him close, and whispered, “Cough into my shirt Captain.”

Before he could protest, he started coughing. You pulled his head close, listening to the muffled coughs. You knew there would be bloodstains, but you didn’t care. You could wash them out in the morning. You petted Ukitake’s head, and rubbed his back. You were scared that he wouldn’t be able to make it, but you didn’t show it. You knew he wouldn’t appreciate that, and you didn’t want him to worry even more. Eventually, he did stop, but he didn’t move from your shoulder. “I’m sorry about that,” he mumbled, “I bet you’re mad at me now.”

“Why would I?” you asked, “You are very dear to me. Besides, I don’t get mad over something like that.”

You felt his smile appear against your shoulder. You buried your head into his neck, secretly taking in his scent. ‘I don’t want him to leave, but I know he must. He’s my Captain, so of course he’ll be busy.’

“Sir, can you at least stay until I fall asleep?” you ask.

He got up from your shoulder, smiling down at you. “That’s what I was planning,” he chuckled.

You smiled at him, and whispered, “Do you think we can continue that kiss first, and then go to bed?”

Jushiro lowered his head to where you were touching noses, and whispered, “Anything for my Lieutenant.”

You felt a draft coming from behind you. Birds were loudly chirping, and you felt sunlight touch your back. As you opened your eyes, you saw your window opened with a letter wedged into it. You took it, and smiled at the oh so familiar handwriting.

DEAR (Y/N),
I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK AFTER LAST NIGHT, BUT I WILL MISS YOU. I’M TRULY GLAD I GET TO BE THE ONLY MAN ABLE TO LOVE YOU, AND I KNOW YOU WILL DO GREAT ON YOUR TRAINING. CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING YOUR ZAMPAKUTO. I’M VERY PROUD OF YOU. PLEASE DO NOT OVER WORK YOURSELF. I WILL ALWAYS WORRY ON YOU, SO PLEASE DO NOT GO PASSED YOUR LIMITS ON THIS.
OH AND BE AWARE OF RENJI. I FEEL HE IS UP TO SOMETHING.
YOUR CAPTAIN,
JUSHIRO UKITAKE

You put on the rest of your kimono and stuffed the letter in your pocket. After cleaning up your room, you closed the door and smelled bacon. You met everybody at the small table, smiling at all of the tired faces. “Good morning everybody!” you cheerfully greeted. You then noticed that Urahara wasn’t there, and asked, “Hey, where’s Kisuke?”

“Probably still sleeping, knowing him,” Ichigo yawned.

You looked at Renji, trying to see if there was something suspicious about him. ‘He looks normal to me,’ you think, ‘Maybe Jushiro knows something I don’t.’

Did I clean the shirt? I don't want to get up for water wearing that shirt one night, and have some one see me wearing a bloody shirt.
