“…and then she dashed towards him, flinging her arms around him and swearing she’d always protect him.”

You sighed and looked back up at Armin, who wore a concentrated frown on his delicate face. He was concentrated on a small fly flying around the light above you two. Ever since this morning Armin had been rather distracted. You were really worried about him. Your mind couldn’t focus, and your writing was sloppy. Your head revolved around Armin’s behavior, and you couldn’t help it.

“Are you okay Armin?” you asked.

He shook his head and smiled at you, “Ah I’m sorry (F/n). I’ve been really distracted lately. I uh…it’s nothing really.”

You stared at him and frowned, “You sure?”

He nodded and stared back at his book. You saved your Word document, shut your laptop, and slid it back in the bag. An extremely devious idea popped in your head. Maybe you needed to distract him from his thoughts. A wide smirk spread across your lips as you pulled out the chair beside him. His head was still in the clouds, his eyes shined inside the world he lived. You placed the bookmark between the pages he left off in. You took his hands in yours, pressing your soft lips against his knuckles. You batted your long eyelashes at him, your bright (f/n) eyes staring up at his blushing face.

“(F-F/n) what are you doing?” he gasped.

“Your hands are tense,” you mumbled, “Along with the rest of you. I thought this was a good technique in relaxing, but I guess that only works between couples.”

His face brightened, “I-I’m sorry I just….I-I dreamt of you last n-night.”

“I did too.”

His bright blue eyes stared back at you in disbelief. You couldn’t help but stare into his eyes…

You could barely breathe. Your vision was hazy, but his eyes were so vivid and clear. The rain poured down in large drops, making his hair stick to his forehead. You couldn’t tell if he was crying, but he showed much distress and his whimpers were loud enough for you to hear. The wound in your stomach kept oozing out large amounts of blood, and your face was bruised and scratched. Your hair clumped because of the rain and blood. You were clinging onto him for life.

“Armin,” you mumbled, “I’m so happy you’re safe.”

“No please d-don’t talk!” his voice cracked, “I’ll f-find help!”

Thunderous earthquakes rattled his body as he ran, but his legs wouldn’t stop. He almost gave in but he was too focused on you. He needed to get you to safety.

“(F/n) please don’t let go!”

“(F/n)!”

“(F/n).”

You shook your head and looked at his blushing face. Your eyes widened, your hand reaching for your stomach. “Did you see that?” you whispered.

Armin nodded, his wide blue eyes filling with tears. Your eyebrows furrowed, wondering how this could happen. Weren’t they just dreams? Was this a daydream? No it was too vivid and strange. They weren’t dreams anymore…they couldn’t be. Something was off about these…visions. They seemed too real. The pain you felt just seconds ago was real, that was for sure. You couldn’t move much, but now you were okay. You felt everything.

“Armin…I don’t think these are dreams anymore.”

His eyes locked with yours, “Then what do these…visions…mean? What are they?”

You shook your head, “I’m not sure.”

He groaned and leaned back in his chair, “We should head back. We’re both really distracted, and I don’t think the librarian would appreciate it.”

You nodded and stood up, not letting go of his hands. A frown spread his lips and he stared up at you. The look on his face made you smile slightly, your thumbs rubbing against his smooth skin. You were jealous of his skin complexion. It was so perfect, just like the rest of him. Your heart fluttered against your chest, but you couldn’t look away from him. No he was just too gorgeous to turn away from.

“Armin do you know how I feel in the visions we have?”

He stood up as well and stared up at you, his eyebrows raised against his forehead. “I’m sorry…but I’m not sure what you’re talking about.”

“Ah…I see…”

You sighed and let go of his hands, a sad smile curled up on your lips. Why did you have to be such a coward? You were ready to tell him how much you loved him long ago, but you didn’t want to ruin the relationship you already had with him. As his step sister it was strange telling him you wanted to be his girlfriend. He’d most likely remind you of your family status with him. It’d feel like incest to him wouldn’t it?

“(F/n)?”

“I’m okay,” you chuckled, coughing up phlegm. The pain burned your abdomen, yet made you numb at the same time. It was a strange feeling, being at the brink of death like this. You wanted to tell Armin how you felt about him, how perfect he was to you, and how much you wanted to love him. Dead or alive you wanted to be with him.

The thunderous booms rattled your bones and eardrums, making Armin fall to the ground. His legs were weak, and his body couldn’t handle your weight anymore. You turned your head to him, smiling at him softly. “Look at me,” you whispered.

His deep blue pools looked back at you, tears filling them. “I’m so s-sorry,” he whispered.

You placed a hand on his cheek, catching the droplets that fell down his cheeks. “Darling please don’t cry,” you whispered, pulling yourself closer to him, “I’ll always be here to protect you.”

A dark shadow loomed over the two of you, but you dared not look up. You wanted him to be safe, and the last thing you wanted was for him to get scared. You embraced his limp body, staring into his loving eyes. “I love you Armin. No matter what happens, I will always love you.”

You kissed him softly as your bodies were retrieved by the monster, its mouth wide open and drooling. Your eyes stayed locked onto his, even as you could smell the rotting flesh inside of the cavern, even as your torsos were smashed between its molars. You only stopped to whisper one last request.

“Remember that. Forever.”

Your face was close to his, your hand placed delicately on his cheek. Your lips barely brushed against his own, the soft pink skin making your heart soar. His eyes flashed confusion, and his body trembled. It seemed to be out of fear. You closed your eyes, pulled away, and shook your head. You removed your hand and turned away. “I don’t know why I did that,” you said, “I’m sorry.”

You grabbed for your laptop bag, hiding your face behind your bangs. You didn’t dare look at Armin, your heart full of disgust and regret. You had no idea why you acted on impulse like that, and you honestly didn’t know why you suddenly saw what you did. You and Armin…died…

Why were these fragments specifically showing themselves to you now?

“We better get home,” you mumbled, silent tears falling down your cheeks as you walked ahead of him.

Armin trailed behind you while you wallowed away in your thoughts. You sighed and tried to forget everything, but you couldn’t do it. You enjoyed staring into his eyes, seeing that yes you did love him even in those visions, and you couldn’t help but notice he didn’t hate what you were doing. He was just confused, but you still hated what you did. He was your step brother after all.
“(F/n)?”

Bright blue eyes stared up at you when you looked back, confusion and hurt reflecting from those gorgeous pools of wonder. You would have ignored him, but those eyes made you cave. Your heart hurt just staring into them. You’ve never felt so strongly for one guy before, and Armin was your man. You cared for him, so seeing him upset like this made you upset as well.

“I’m sorry for earlier,” you sighed, “I feel awful about it and I know you probably hate me, but I hope we can still be best friends.”

A sad smile graced his lips, “(F/n) I’ve seen and felt things even before these visions….things I didn’t understand. I’m still confused as to how I feel. I-I don’t know anything anymore. I have feelings for you, but I’m not able to understand if they are romantic, platonic, family oriented….I-I just don’t know….but one thing is certain. I will always do my best to protect you and be there for you. No matter what.”

He took your hands, his face dark crimson.

But yours was darker.
Here's some more clues on this :D
